Peace is not the absence of difficulty. I learned that the hard way — across a few continents and several versions of myself.
 
Peace like a river means a current beneath the chaos. Something that moves steadily, that does not stop because the banks are steep or the weather is wrong. This painting is that current. Blues and greens and the kind of stillness that isn't passive — it's earned.
 
I painted this in New York, when I needed to remember what home felt like. It still carries that longing in it.
