I grew up with this psalm. It was the prayer my family said in hard seasons, and I have carried it through every city I have ever lived in — Livorno, Bologna, Milan, New York.
 
'Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil.'
 
This painting is not a religious statement. It is a personal one. It is about the kind of faith that survives displacement, the deep, quiet knowing that you are held even when nothing around you feels stable. I painted this for myself, and for everyone who has ever had to trust something they could not see.
