Two figures. Two names. One truth about what it means to know yourself and to be known by someone else — fully, without performance.
 
Self and Ada belong to the Floral Collection, a series I painted during a period of deliberate self-examination. The florals in this series aren't decorative. They're a language — for growth that is chosen rather than accidental, for beauty that comes out of discipline and intention.
 
I named this piece after myself and after Ada — a name that means 'first daughter' in Igbo. There is something about firstness, about being the one who arrives before the path is clear, that lives in both of us. This piece is for anyone who has ever had to become themselves without a map.
